Buck Fever entry - From Our Readers
A gift from "Bubba"...
WOW!!  What a birthday present this buck was for 17 yr. old, Tyler Lembeck of Bloomington, MN.
He was using his doe call right before he shot this 10 point buck on opening morning in Garrison, MN.  He tipped the scales at 210 pounds, (this was the biggest deer ever taken at our deer camp in over 30 years!) and there wasn't a happier kid out in the woods that day, which just happen to be Tyler's 17th birthday!  And for a birthday gift his dad is getting a shoulder mount done for him!  Tyler said it was "His best birthday EVER"!!   This was also the first year at our deer camp without Tyler's Grandpa, who started our deer camp over 30 years ago, so he was dearly missed this year.  His grandpa (Bill Lembeck) passed away last February, and we think this buck was a very special gift from him to all of us at our deer camp.  His grandpa, "Bubba", was a true outdoorsman, who passed on a love of hunting to all of his 7 children and 19 grandchildren.  His passion for hunting now lives in all of us and we hope to continue to pass his legacy on for many generations to come.

It was our first year at our deer camp without my dad, who was dearly missed, and I really thought this should be included in part of the caption because we do truly believe this was a gift from my dad, (Tyler's grandpa) it was our first year without him in our lives and without him at deer camp in over 30 years, and this is for sure the biggest deer that has ever been brought back to our deer camp.  We do see some big deer in our area, but they are very few and far between, so getting a buck like this was incredible, a dream come true moment for sure!  As we sat around the camp fire that night at deer camp, my nephew, Tyler said, "I sure wish Bubba was here to see this buck."  And I said, "Tyler, I think he was with you all along, and that is why you got that buck today."  And he said, "I was thinking the exact same thing!"  I said "It was an great birthday gift to you, but it was also and incredibly awesome gift to all of us, something we will all never forget.  Life will go on without him, but the memories we have of him will live in our hearts forever."  My dad was an inspiration to all of us and it is the reason why we all have such a great passion for the outdoors and why we all truly love hunting so much and because of that, even though he is now gone, his legacy will continue to grow each and every year for generations to come.

Thank you very much,
