Special report and photo from Sportsman’s Lodges: The highlight of the week, a 60 inch, 55 lb Lake Sturgeon caught through the ice! What a fight! This monster of a fish gave one angler a fishing story to tell for a lifetime! You just never know what a world class fishery like Lake of the Woods will produce next. Jon Trujillo & Chris Slick, both from Baudette, hold a sturgeon caught in 17 feet of water off of Pine Island (4 miles from Sportsman's Lodge), using a green 3/4 ounce jig, tipped with a chub minnow on 6-pound test line (they were going for walleye)! It took them 50 minutes to land the sturgeon. Jon is one of the ice fishing guides at Sportsman's Lodges.
